Scentwork Beginner Course (Nov)

Package Description

Do you have  dog who loes to use their nose? Do you want a fun and adaptible way to enterainer you dog?  Do you want to build bonds, skills, and have fun?  This 6 week Scentwork Course is for you with Marion, a qualified Scentwork instructor. This course will teach and solidify a passive search and indication on a coin, kong piece, and gun oil, progressing your dog to foundations of a hand retrieve in prep for the active searches in the intermediate course. Did you know that 10 minutes of nose work for dogs is the equivalent to a 30 minute walk. Not only this, but using their knose and building these skills lowers heart rates, provides genetic rewards, and gives them a fantastic outlet for rainy, hot, and busy days.  Class Information: Please bring with you - A mat/blanket/bed - A mask (if you wish) - Your dog's favourite enrichment item to help settle (snuffle mat/licki mat) - Lots of high value treats (if not food oriented then favourite toy - Red kong - appropriate size to dog - 1p and 2p coins (or plastic lid or jam jar lid or larger if dog at risk of swallowing coins - Small glass jar with lid - 3 more containers ideally glass with lids Please ensure your dog has on a fixed lead or collar or harness, no slip leads, extendable leads, or choke/pinch collars please while we are working the dogs. Do let me know if you need harness recommendations. I ask that everyone refrains from allowing their dogs to meet on lead during classes and preferably not before or after in the car park as well. *For week 1 please leave dogs in car for first 10 mins.* Any questions, please let me know.
