Do ever feel that your dog has selective hearing? Do they ignore their name when called? What if i told you you could improve their responsiveness with a handful of simple games?
In this edition of dog training hacks I am going to share with you one simple game to get you started. Not only will it boost their engagement, help with loose-lead walking, help with lead frustration, reactivity, but also that pesky selective hearing.
Step #1 - Grab 10 Food Rewards
Pop them in some pots around the house out the way.
Step #2 - Walk & Drop
As you go about your day sneakily grab a reward and say 'One' as you clearly bend and pop it between your toes.
Start in the same room as the dog so they learn that 'One' = Reward
Repeat 10 times a day.
Step #3 - Keep Going & Get Creative!
Repeat this game for a week in the beginning.
Then start to introduce it out and about on walks, in the garden, when they aren't in the room with you, if they start pulling out on walks, when they see another dog.
See The Difference!
Has that selective hearing reduced? Do you feel your dog's engagement has been boosted? Are they more attentive to you during the day? Has it improved recalls? Has it helped pulling on the lead?
If you enjoyed it and want to know more then book a one-to-one session with me.
